A large turnout and a massive amount of work completed yesterday. We had to break out a second sign on sheet.
We tackled one of the primary areas of conservation concern being the orchid trail. For outer loop easy trail this trail was a fairly difficult ascent and sketchy in parts on the descent. It was also suffering from erosion and braking ruts.
The corners were given the full bench treatment, grade dips, knicks and outslope fixed. Choke points to control speed and a few coral rocks to maintain the lines.
Just across the fire trail we redesigned the creek crossing from a direct fall line heavily eroded trail to a sustainable switchback approach. The creek was armoured with BFR's and the sludge removed. Just after we finished a bloke with his about 8yr old son came through. They were going to bypass, due to difficulty level, although we talked them into trying it. The boy nailed the approach and crossing with no difficulties.
Keep up the good work all.
